LA's Most Successful Female Chef Lost Everything... →
It’s a good thing Nancy Silverton still has her day job. The La Brea Bakery founder and queen of L.A.’s restaurant scene is among the legions of investors who’ve lost their fortunes in the alleged…

PERFECT HOLIDAY CHEESECAKE RECIPES →
Dec 31st
just pulled freshly baked bread out of the oven. Bummer I’m too full to taste test it while it’s still warm, tho. Bad timing on my part.

is roasting chicken and corn on the cob, and stir frying whole wheat noodles w/ garlic, spinach & truffle oil. Wish I had a chardonnay.

is on to The Usual Suspects after the dreadful last installment of X-Men. Some Singer brilliance to cleanse the pallet. Maybe Bound next.

The Third Charm
There is some sort of spectacular tradition about crappy third sequels. Why the hell is that? We’re watching the second of the X-Men movies at the moment, and as much as I like it, I know that we’ll move onto the third one next… even though — in the tradition of The Godfather, Superman, and so many others — sucks dead bunnies through a crazy straw. Bacon Explosion: The BBQ Sausage Recipe of all... →
OMG. Aside from a coronary on a grill, this looks amazing. Not entirely dissimilar from my meatloaf, either. I just don’t normally do the lattice design on the outside of the bacon, but it’s a great idea (both aesthetically and practically). I’ll try it next time.

was going to make more cream cheese cookies until hubby started eating the gingerbread house. Now I’m thinking more cookies should wait.
Dec 25th
got hubby some mead for Christmas. Now trying to decide if we should drink it cold or mulled. Which is better?
Dec 25th
is debating between another batch of egg nog coffee or a batch of Abuelita hot cocoa.

Gingerbread House
I made a Gingerbread House for Charles because he’s never had one and has always wanted one. I deliberately made it with all edibles so that he/we could actually eat it. I am a little squeamish at the idea of eating the whole thing, though I have no doubt we probably will… and then regret it. Just wish I had a camera so that I could have grabbed a shot of it first.
